Judge Hurley ruled that the high level Virginia election officials were temporarily restrained from administering, preparing for, or moving forward with causing an election on the proposed constitutional amendment.  The emergency injunction shall  be from 19 February to 18 March 2026.

Part of the reason was that the ballot language was misleading.  In a previous ruling, Judge Hurley found that the referendum was invalid from the moment it was created.

A judge has ruled that challenges to the constitutional amendment can only be pursued after the referendum election.
